Arranging private dining, a group booking or a special event at Paladar?
Paladar is a special one-of-a-kind destination restaurant. We take great pride in being able to arrange private dining as well as a range of different types of groups, parties, functions and special events.
This could be a birthday or anniversary, a hen or stag night, an office party, a wedding reception, a reunion dinner, a supper club or simply a large family gathering.
We consider parties of more than 10 to be a "group" and special rules apply. This page tries to explain as simply as possible some of these rules.

We strongly recommend booking large parties well in advance, especially at weekends!

Parties of 8-10
We recommend the Chef’s Table in the Bodega. This is a semi-private area right in front of the kitchen pass. The table is a little higher than usual and seating is on comfortable stools with backs.
Minimum Spend: £600; Credit Card Guarantee of £200 required.
Menus available: Daily Menu; Chef’s Tasting Menu (last orders for TM around 8.15pm); Fiesta and Fiesta Lite Menus

Parties of 12-20
For slightly larger parties our Intimate and funky-monkey Amazon Lounge might be the answer. This private room has its own en-suite WC facilities and space for pre-dinner drinks and live music.
Minimum Spend: £950 (Tues-Thurs); £1,250 (Fri-Sat). A deposit of 50% of the minimum spend is required to confirm exclusive use of the Amazon Lounge. This will be automatically offset against your bill on the night. Menus available: Daily Menu; Fiesta Sharing Feast Menu, Fiesta-Lite Sharing Menu (with minimum spend).

Parties of 12-20
We can seat guests on two parallel tables in the rear part of the main dining room or on one long table in the garden.

Parties of 25-32
We can offer exclusive use of the courtyard garden for the whole evening. Minimum spends apply for exclusive use for the whole evening thus:
Tues-Thurs £1,800; Fri-Sat £2,500
A deposit of 50% of minimum spend is required at time of booking to confirm exclusive use of the garden. This will be offset against the final bill on the night. Menus available: Fiesta Sharing Feast Menu. Fiesta-Lite Sharing Menu

Parties of 30-44
We can offer exclusive use of the main dining room on four or five tables of varied numbers.
Minimum Spend: Tues-Thurs £2,500; Fri-Sat £3,500
Credit Card Guarantee or an actual deposit of 50% of minimum spend required at time of booking. Menus available: Fiesta Sharing Feast Menu. Fiesta-Lite Sharing Menu

Parties of up to 50
We can offer exclusive use of the main dining room on three tables of varied numbers plus the bodega.
Minimum Spend: Tues-Thurs £3,200 ; Fri-Sat £4,500. Deposit of 50% of minimum spend required at time of booking. Menus available: Fiesta Sharing Feast Menu. Fiesta-Lite Sharing Menu
Flexibility of Minimum Spends
Minimum spends generally apply to an area for a full dinner session. We can be more flexible with minimum spends for weekday lunchtimes and mid-afternoons. We can also reduce the minimum spend for a later evening start (for example for exclusive use from 8.30pm until close).
If you do not meet the minimum spend, you may buy bottles of wine / spirits (at retail prices) in the bodega and take them home with you to make up the shortfall. Alternatively, we can charge you a "room hire" to make up the shortfall.
Enhance your event
Make your event your own with thoughtful extras, from decorations and live music to relaxed canapé receptions in our dining spaces.
Decorations and Live Music
You are welcome to decorate the area and/or arrange live music if you have exclusive use of an area. We can put you in touch with an excellent Cuban musician if you would like to arrange live music.
Canapé receptions
We can arrange stand-up canapé receptions in any of our four main dining areas, but minimum spends would usually still apply if the reception is in the evening during the main dinner period. However, at off-peak times we can be flexible with minimum spends.
More than just a meal
If you are party of 10-20 guests we can offer you a pre-dinner wine tasting, cocktail making demonstration or a talk about Latin American wines and spirits to enhance your meal. Please enquire if this is of interest.
FAQ Group Bookings & Private Hire

What is the largest group size you can accommodate?
For a sit-down dinner we generally do not accept group bookings of more than about 50 guests. However, if you would like to book the entire venue for a stand-up drinks and canapes event, we could accommodate up to 70 guests.

Which is the best area of the restaurant for a private party?
Which of our four dining areas you wish to choose partly depends on the size of your party, your general preference and your budget. For more information please see our Dining Areas page.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Paladar is a cashless venue. Payment is normally only made by debit or credit cards, Apple Pay or Android Pay etc. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express (Amex) and most of the leading Western card payment types. However, we do not accept Diners card.
Unless in exceptional circumstances, we no longer accept payment in cash (although you are welcome to tip your server in cash if you wish). We also do not accept Bitcoin or other crypto currencies.
For payment of deposits for group bookings, pre-ordered canapes or pre-paid group events we prefer a direct transfer to our bank account, details of which will be provided.

Can you do anything special for our birthday? Can you bake a cake for us?
We do not generally bake cakes in-house, but we can supply wonderful birthday, wedding and anniversary gluten-free cakes from a local artisan cake maker. If this is of interest, please contact us by phone or email well in advance.
We have many birthday celebrations at Paladar and for most birthdays, we put some candles onto one of our desserts (or the dessert platter) and bring it to the table with a song

Can we bring our own birthday cake?
Yes, you are welcome to bring a cake along as long as you also order some of our desserts. However, if the cake is in lieu of our desserts, then we would charge you a “cakeage” fee of £2.50 per person.
Either way, we are happy to keep the cake for you and then bring it out with candles and a song for the birthday boy/girl at the relevant moment!

Do you have live music in the restaurant?
We occasionally have live music for special events, but we do not have live music in the restaurant on a regular basis.
If you are arranging a private party and would like to have live music please let us know, as we have several Latin American musicians that we particularly recommend.

If we book a private space can we play our own music and put up decorations?
Yes, if you have exclusive use of an area as a private space you can play your own music and put up your own decorations – but no confetti or balloons with confetti inside them please!

Can we order from the Daily Menu if we are a group of more than ten?
For logistical reasons we generally only offer our group menus (Fiesta Feast Menu / Fiesta Lite Menu or Sharing Set Menu) to parties of more than ten. However, if you are 11 or 12 you may be able to order from the Daily Menu, depending on how busy we are - especially if you pre-order.
